Lights, Camera, Mustard!

Lights, Camera, Mustard!

Most people take a trip back home to visit loved ones. Others go home because they need a break from their current norm. Then there's the very few who travel from Pasadena, California all the way back to Buffalo, New York, just to attend their 50th high school reunion and to tour their favorite mustard company. We're pretty happy with the latter, but that just exemplifies the true Buffalonian William Fichtner is.

That's right! Born and raised Buffalo actor William Fichtner just took a private tour of Weber's Brand!

William Fichtner grew up in Cheektowaga within a few miles of downtown Buffalo. He attended Maryvale High School and later graduated from Farmingdale State College with an associate degree in criminal justice and SUNY Brockport with a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice. During his college career, he took a theatrical improvisation class to fill a fine arts requirement. During the course, his professor suggested he consider taking more classes to pursue acting. Of course, the rest is history.

On April 3rd of this year, Fichtner appeared on Spectrum News 1 Buffalo to help promote his newest film 'Cutman'. Since the movie was being filmed in Buffalo, he was hoping to promote both the film and Buffalo cinematography. As a Buffalonian now residing in Southern California, anchor and journalist Breanna Fuss thought it would be fun to test his Buffalo trivia (timestamp 4:30).

The questions later led to Fuss asking if he had a favorite brand of blue cheese, which he responded with...

"umm, no I mean, no there are several. I have a preference on mustard. You know it's got to be Weber's."

Fichtner then began expressing his love for Weber's Brand Horseradish Mustard and Hot Texan Sandwich Sauce. That's when we knew we had to get in touch with him.

We wound up getting into a conversation with Tim Clark, the film commissioner of the Buffalo Niagara Film Office. Being in the filming industry, Clark knows Fichtner very well - so well that Fichtner sends him regularly to Wegmans to purchase jars of Weber's to ship back to California. We found out further that he frequently cooks with Weber's Brand products in his Pasadena mancave. Clark said he loves everything Buffalo, often visits home, and would love to come in for a tour.

July 18th was the big day, and we made sure the building was spotless, machines were oiled, and that everyone was wearing at least a little bit of yellow.

William Fichtner walked in and was immediately awe of his favorite mustard company. From the red and yellow building to the near 100 year-old jars in the foyer, you could feel his excitement. The Weber's family and staff walked him out into production to greet the staff and get the tour running. He began asking question after question about our production process, our machinery, and even tried case-packing mustard jars himself!

He later told us that all of his friends love Weber's are always dying to grab a jar from him. During his last 4th of July party, his friends asked...

"you got the stuff?" Which he responded with "yes, I've got the stuff."

In all seriousness, William Fichtner is a wonderful person. Due to his busy schedule, he was only supposed to stay at Weber's for 45 minutes, but pushed it another half hour to speak with everyone. Experiences like these last a lifetime, but without all of our amazing fans, none of this would happen.

Thank you so much for visiting our 4th generation family owned company. Good luck to you and your family!

"Keep it real and keep it yellow."
